Seven Seas Goes Prehistoric with License of My Girlfriend is a T-Rex

Seven Seas Entertainment is excited to announce their acquisition of an all-new, totally different type of monster girl series: My Girlfriend is a T-Rex, by Japanese author and artist, Sanzo.

In a world where humans live side-by-side with anthropomorphic dinosaurs, Yuuma Asahikawa is a young man looking for a fresh start in life. It’s a classic case of “be careful what you wish for” when Yuuma begins dating Churio–a gorgeous Tyrannosaurus Rex with a ferocious appetite.

Follow the ups and downs of Yuuma and Churio’s bizarre romance as they spend their daily lives together. As Churio’s vicious claws, reptilian tail, and razor sharp teeth hinder even the simplest of activities together, will Yuuma, let alone their relationship, survive?

My Girlfriend is a T-Rex—like Monster Musume but with a very prehistoric twist!” said Seven Seas publisher Jason DeAngelis. “The stories are cute, the characters are lovable, and the overall series works hard to answer that age-old question we’ve all wondered…can humans and dinosaurs really date?”

Seven Seas will publish My Girlfriend is a T-Rex for the first time in print in North America as single volumes. Each book will contain at least two full-color illustrations. Volume one of My Girlfriend is a T-Rex will be released on November 1, 2016 for $12.99 USA / $14.99 CAN.

Seven Seas Bewitches with License of Holy Corpse Rising

Seven Seas Entertainment is excited to announce their acquisition of the dark fantasy manga series, Holy Corpse Rising. Featuring gorgeously detailed artwork and a wicked sense of humor, Holy Corpse Rising is a supernatural tale about an ongoing war between humankind and witches.

In fifteenth century Rome, witches have declared war against humanity. A young man named Nikola, whose parents were cruelly murdered by a witch before his eyes, discovers that he is now the key to winning the war. Using sorcery skills acquired through years of careful study, Nikola must revive twelve witches known as the “First Witches” who will become his allies and weapons to defeat the enemy. Seven Seas Goes Back to Class with License of My Pathetic Vampire Life

Seven Seas Entertainment is excited to announce their acquisition of Rose Ishikawa’s vampire comedy, My Pathetic Vampire Life–an all-new supernatural comedy manga series about a vampire stuck in high school for all eternity!

Koide was turned into a vampire at the age of sixteen—one hundred and thirty-three years ago. Now, poor Koide is trapped in an eternal loop of the same old homework, the same boring lectures and meaningless tests, and an ever-unquenchable thirst for blood. Koide has repeated his uneventful sophomore year of high school one hundred and thirty-three times, and now, in his one hundred and thirty fourth year, he doesn’t expect things to change—and is frankly too bored to care.

But his classmates this year seem a little different than before. They’re thrilled to have a vampire in their midst, and are eager to do whatever they can to help. Will “134” be Koide’s lucky number or is that just wishful thinking?

“Some might say that the time of vampires has come and gone, but in this case the protagonist of the story itself couldn’t agree more!” said Seven Seas publisher Jason DeAngelis. “Stories have joked about teenage-born vampires being trapped going to school forever, and this series follows up on that idea to hilarious and sympathetic effect.”

Seven Seas will publish My Pathetic Vampire Life for the first time in print in North America as single volumes. Each book will contain at least two full-color pages. Volume one of My Pathetic Vampire Life will be released on October 4, 2016 for $12.99 USA / $14.99 CAN.

Seven Seas Entertainment Celebrates Over Ten Years of Amazing Agent Luna with Final Volume

Seven Seas Entertainment is proud to announce the completion of its longest-running original English-language manga series with the eleventh and final volume of Amazing Agent Luna.

Debuting in 2004 as one of Seven Seas Entertainments’ launch titles, Amazing Agent Luna has delighted fans and critics for over ten years, spanning nineteen books, including both single volumes and omnibus editions, and hitting the New York Times Manga Best Seller list. This Fall, Amazing Agent Luna reaches its dramatic conclusion in a 248-page finale. Nunzio DeFilippis and Christina Weir’s loveable characters and masterful storytelling kept readers engaged for over a decade, while Shiei’s adorable and evocative artwork, with over 1800 pages drawn, brought the story to life in a way that catches the eye and tears at the heartstrings of readers to this day. The Luna franchise also spawned a two volume prequel series, Amazing Agent Jennifer, that explores the origins of Project Luna and introduces several major characters that go on to appear in the main series.

“We’ve written a lot of stories, and created a lot of characters, from TV to Marvel Comics to manga. But there’s no one we created or wrote who we love as much as Luna,” says co-author Christina Weir. “She’s been a part of our lives for over a decade, and we watched her grow up. It’s tough to wrap her story and say goodbye, but every story needs an ending.”

Amazing Agent Luna marks such a huge part of Seven Seas’ history. The series has been with us since the beginning.” says Seven Seas publisher, Jason DeAngelis. “Not many comics last this long and maintain such a passionate fanbase. We’re so grateful to Nunzio, Christina, and Shiei for their hard work and the world they created for Luna and her adventures. Although all good things must come to an end, we think readers will love what the extra-large finale volume has in store for them!”

“Shiei has been an amazing co-pilot on this journey, and the support and story help we’ve gotten from Jason and Adam and Seven Seas was a huge part of why we loved writing for Luna,” says co-author Nunzio DeFilippis. “The book has been the best experience we’ve ever had as writers.”

Grown in a lab from the finest genetic material, fifteen-year-old Luna Collins has been trained all her life by a covert government agency as the ultimate espionage agent. Now she has a dangerous mission that will test her abilities like never before: high school!

Seven Seas Goes to the Front of the Class with License of I Was Abducted by an Elite All-Girls School as a Sample Commoner

Seven Seas Entertainment reveals the first of several new summer licenses with their acquisition of I Was Abducted by an Elite All-Girls School as a Sample Commoner, written by Nanatsuki Takafumi and with art by Risumai.

Deep in the forest-covered mountains is an all-girls school, attended by children from only the richest and most prestigious of families. Here, the girls are raised to be perfect young ladies, cut off from the real world to preserve their innocence and ensure that they’re free from all distractions. This policy of isolation is a double-edged sword, however, for after graduation, students of the academy often struggle to adapt to a world that’s totally different from their cloistered school life.

To combat this inevitable culture shock, an average teenage boy, Kagurazaka Kimito, is kidnapped by the school to provide its students with knowledge of the outside world. Forced to enroll against his wishes, Kimito must now attend classes in a place where his very manhood relies on keeping the girls happy. Can one regular guy possibly survive in a fearsome, all-female student body?

I Was Abducted by an Elite All-Girls School as a Sample Commoner – the name’s a bit of a mouthful but it’s a good primer!” says Seven Seas publisher, Jason DeAngelis. “This was a series we knew we had to publish. It’s a hilarious comedy that really plays on a lot of the tropes that people have come to expect and love in similar titles. With an anime adaptation on its way this Fall, we’re eager to introduce English readers to the manga series next Spring.”

Seven Seas will release I Was Abducted by an Elite All-Girls School as a Sample Commoner for the first time in print in North America as single volumes, each with a color insert. The first volume will be released on May 3, 2016 for $12.99 US / $14.99 CAN.

Seven Seas Visits the Afterlife with License of Angel Beats!: Heaven’s Door Manga

Seven Seas Entertainment is excited to announce their acquisition of the long-awaited manga series, Angel Beats!: Heaven’s Door.

Inspired by the wildly popular anime, this all-new manga series brings to light one of the most important events within the franchise—the formation of the Afterlife Battlefront. Released on home video in North America by Sentai Filmworks, the Angel Beats! anime has gone on to become a perennial seller, and a beloved series by many fans.

Angel Beats!: Heaven’s Door is a title we’ve been eager to publish,” said Seven Seas publisher Jason DeAngelis. “The anime was a major hit, and this manga series builds upon the Angel Beats universe by adding an in-depth backstory, exciting new plot elements, and deeper characterizations. Comedy, action, cute girls, and even some interesting thoughts on the afterlife – we think Heaven’s Door will be a great title for both new and old fans of the work.”

Hideki Hinata has just died…but his life is far from over. Finding himself stuck in a kind of purgatory in the Afterlife School—an academy for recently departed lost souls—he begins to learn that the land of the dead has just as many annoying rules, if not more, than the land of the living.

There he meets Yuri Nakamura, a brazen young woman who harbours nothing but contempt for God due to the life she was forced to lead before passing away. Together, Yuri and Hideki form the SSS brigade, otherwise known as the Afterlife Battlefront—a group whose purpose it is to rebel against God in any way they can. However, standing in their way is the stoic and cold Tenshi, a supposed angelic messenger of God…who just so happens to be the Student Council President!

Can Yuri and the rest of the Afterlife Battlefront overcome their fate or are they destined to be stuck in a limbo world forever?!

Angel Beats!: Heaven’s Door is an ongoing manga series in Japan with eight volumes currently released. Seven Seas will publish the series for the first time in print in North America as individual volumes, each with a color insert. Tomodachi x Monster is like a certain pocket-monster story gone horribly wrong,” said Seven Seas publisher Jason DeAngelis. “With this series you get to watch what really happens when kids with no conscience get hold of monstrous friends to do their bidding. Cute, yet macabre and gory. Tomodachi x Monster is to kids-and-their-monsters series what Magical Girl Apocalypse is to magical girl series.”

Seven Seas will release Tomodachi x Monster for the first time in print in North America as three individual volumes, each with a colour insert. The first volume will be released on February 23, 2016 for $12.99 US / $14.99 CAN.

Seven Seas Entertainment Walks with the Dead with License of Hour of the Zombie

Seven Seas Entertainment is thrilled to announce their acquisition of Tsukasa Saimura’s manga series, Hour of the Zombie.

Akira is your typical student living a conventional high school life. He has dreams and aspirations like everyone else, and an unrequited crush on his childhood friend, Kurumi. Unfortunately for him she seems more interested in Akira’s best friend, Umezawa. And yet their innocent love triangle pales in comparison to what the three friends are about to experience, even if it may yet be their saving grace.

Students are suddenly turning into frenzied zombies, attacking and gorging themselves upon each other’s flesh. The school is being torn apart until suddenly… they stop. With the zombies apparently back to normal, the school is now divided between the previously turned and the unbitten. But how long will this peace last? And what caused students to turn in the first place? When any of your classmates could suddenly decide to have you for lunch, a friendly face can become the scariest thing in the room.

“I really felt Hour of the Zombie was something unique when I picked it up. It’s a series where you’re thrown right into the action–the messy, horrific action,” said Seven Seas managing editor Adam Arnold. “The covers are fantastically creepy, totally matching the content inside which fans of series like The Walking Dead and Highschool of the Dead will really eat up.”

Seven Seas will release Hour of the Zombie for the first time in print in North America as individual volumes, each with a color insert. The first volume will be released on April 5, 2016 for $12.99 US / $14.99 CAN.

Seven Seas Envisions a Brighter Future with License of orange Manga Series

Seven Seas Entertainment is pleased to announce their acquisition of Ichigo Takano’s romantic time-travel manga series, orange.

Everyone has regrets in life. So who wouldn’t take the chance to change the past if given the opportunity? When sixteen-year-old Takamiya Naho receives a mysterious letter, claiming to be from her twenty-seven-year-old self, her life is suddenly thrown into flux. The letter tells her that a new transfer student by the name of Naruse Kakeru will be joining her class, and to keep her eye on him. But why? Naho must decide what to make of the letter and its cryptic warning, and what it means not only for her future, but for Kakeru’s as well.

“We’re always excited to expand our shojo catalog and orange is another big part of that,” said Seven Seas publisher Jason DeAngelis. “With orange, I was impressed by its touching story, but also intrigued by the time-travel aspect. It’s both heartwarming and suspenseful. I think it will really move our readers.”

orange was originally published by Futabasha in Japan, and has since sold over 1 520 000 copies. The series is currently being adapted into a live-action film.

Seven Seas Entertainment is thrilled to announce their acquisition of Wataru Karasuma’s virtual gender-bender manga series, Not Lives.

High school student Mikami has always been an eccentric oddball who doesn’t quite fit in. He doesn’t mind though, as he has other passions that consume him. Little do his classmates know, Mikami moonlights as a game designer extraordinaire. His current mission is simple: create the ultimate romance game!

But when Mikami tries to play a strange game that mysteriously appears among his research material, things take a bizarre turn as he’s suddenly thrust into a survival game and transformed into a girl! And complicating things even further, if Mikami loses inside the game, it’s not only his female avatar that’s on the line, but his very own life! Will Mikami survive this new adventure, or is he too excited to care?

No Game, No Life was a huge hit for us, and fans have been eager for something else like it,” said Seven Seas publisher Jason DeAngelis. “Not Lives has all the fun and references of other virtual reality stories, but also with a gender-bending twist. The art is great, and Mikami’s enthusiasm for games is infectious. It’s really entertaining.”

Seven Seas Mixes Fun, Freaky, and Frankenstein with License of FRANKEN FRAN Manga Series

Seven Seas Entertainment is excited to announce their acquisition of Katsuhisa Kigitsu’s dark parody manga series, Franken Fran.

Somewhere, out in the sticks of rural Japan, there is a mysterious manor that is home to the greatest surgeon who ever lived. But when the surgeon goes missing, his reanimated daughter, Fran, takes up the family profession, and despite her Frankenstein-like ways, cares deeply for her patients and holds steadfast to the Hippocratic Oath. Fran’s creed? “All lives must be saved, no matter the cost!”

Readers will join Fran, her twisted sister Veronica, and the rest of her monstrous entourage in a gruesomely hilarious tale that would put Mary Shelley to shame! Because for Franken Fran, the ends always justify the means, no matter what ungodly creations emerge from her lab.

Eight New Licenses for Seven Seas!

Seven Seas Entertainment is pleased to confirm a number of fan-favorite manga series coming to its roster in 2014. There is something for everyone in Seven Seas’ new lineup, including a brand-new gender-bender take on Alice in Wonderland, the continuation of a hit dieselpunk franchise, two all-new spin-offs of a popular high school comedy franchise, an epic fantasy that may be the best series you will ever read, and an outrageous comedy series that will put you in stitches.

The new licenses are as follows:
I Am Alice: Body Swap in Wonderland
Strike Witches: 1937 Fuso Sea Incident
Strike Witches: The Sky That Connects Us
Strike Witches: One-Winged Witches
HAGANAI: I Don’t Have Many Friends-Now With 50% More Fail!
HAGANAI: I Don’t Have Many Friends-Club Minutes
Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer
D-Frag!

I Am Alice: Body Swap in Wonderland (Story & art by Ayumi Kanou)
From the creator of Dictatorial Grimoire comes an all-new gender-bender in Wonderland!

I Am Alice: Body Swap in Wonderland is a new manga trilogy that recasts the tale of Alice in Wonderland in a uniquely hilarious light: Alice switches bodies with a boy, and together, they must journey on a madcap quest through Wonderland.

Each volume of I Am Alice: Body Swap in Wonderland is illustrated in a delightful shoujo-style, and contains color insert.

When Makoto, an unsuspecting Japanese teen, pulls a copy of “Alice in Wonderland” off a library bookshelf, his world will never be the same-literally. Suddenly, he is transported into the magical world of Wonderland, and even more shockingly, he is now stuck in Alice’s body!

To make matters curiouser, the real Alice is stuck in Makoto’s body, and neither of them is happy about the situation. There’s only one way to reverse the body swap and return Makoto home, but it won’t be easy: They must journey together to Heart’s Castle and defeat the King of Hearts.

Volume 1 of I Am Alice: Body Swap in Wonderland will be released in September 2014.

Strike Witches: 1937 Fuso Sea Incident (Story by Humikane Shimada, art by Ningen)
Strike Witches is a highly popular dieselpunk franchise that spans manga, light novels, video games and anime. The series reimagines World War II as a confrontation between the allied human forces and an invading alien menace. Most of the battles featured are fictional recreations of actual World War II dogfights, but in this alternate history, teen girls with advanced weaponry and magic powers perform aerial combat against alien aircraft.

In addition to the ongoing Strike Witches manga series, the franchise has been adapted into light novels, as well as several TV anime which aired in Japan and are available in North America from FUNimation. In 2012, an animated feature film was released entitled Strike Witches: The Movie.

It has been nearly 20 years since the last Great War, and while smaller skirmishes are still taking place over the world, peace has been mostly achieved. In 1937, Fuso Empire, Sakamoto Mio is about to join in on the fierce battle against the Neuroi alien invaders. She’ll have to prove herself amongst all the other cadets if she’s to become a full-fledged Witch. Mio will soon have that chance, as a long, brutal war against the Neuroi awaits her and her fellow Witches.

Volume 1 of Strike Witches: 1937 Fuso Sea Incident will be released in August, 2014. Volume 2 will be released in October, 2014.

Strike Witches: The Sky That Connects Us (Story by Humikane Shimada, art by Shin Kyougoku)
The year is 1944, and the battle against the Neuroi has ended…for now. The 501st Joint Fighter Wing, “Strike Witches,” has accomplished its goal of protecting Britannia from the alien invaders, and riding their presence in the embattled Gallia. Now that the battle is over, they’ve been disbanded, and many of the Witches have decided to go their own ways.

From the war-stricken Gallia to the deserts of Africa, this story follows the girls of the 501st as they rebuild, relax and unwind from their trials of the previous war. Though, danger is always lurking in the night, as a mysterious Neuroi-human hybrid foretells of another impending invasion. Just who…or what is this girl and can the Strike Witches overcome this adversary?

The complete release of Strike Witches: The Sky That Connects Us will be released in June, 2014.

Strike Witches: One-Winged Witches (Story by Humikane Shimada, art by Atsuto Shinozuka)
The Strike Witches of the 501st weren’t the first to take to the sky, nor would they be the last. One-Winged Witches covers the story of Wilma Bishop, taking place along the English Channel in 1942, and one year prior to the Second Neuroi War. As this tale unfolds, more will be revealed about key characters and essential details of the story that is told in Strike Witches: Maidens in the Sky and Strike Witches: The Sky That Connects Us-only from a unique character perspective not seen before.

Join Wilma Bishop, sergeant of the Isle of Wight Detachment Group and ace Strike Witch, as she shows new recruits what it’ll take to earn their flying stripes, and take down some nasty Neuroi in the process!

Volume 1 of Strike Witches: One-Winged Witches will be released in January, 2015.

HAGANAI: I Don’t Have Many Friends-Now with 50% More Fail! (Story by Chirowu Kazahana, art by Shirabi)
Based on the hugely popular franchise of the same name, Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends – Now With 50% More Fail! adds a collection of equally hilarious one-shot stories with each and every cast member. Spanning light novels, manga and anime, Haganai continues to be a fan-favorite and revel in its popularity.

Haganai has received two, 13-episode anime seasons in Japan, and a live-action movie in the works. FUNimation released the first season on home-video in the US earlier this year, and plans to release the second season in 2014.

HAGANAI: I Don’t Have Many Friends-Now with 50% More Fail! will be released in July, 2014.

HAGANAI: I Don’t Have Many Friends-Club Minutes (Story by Kiurian, art by bomi)
Welcome to the Neighbors Club: A nuturing, safe environment meant to promote the concept of friendship among its well-adjusted members. As if!-welcome to the real Neighbors Club, a group of socially-backward outcasts that can barely manage a simple conversation with a convenience store clerk. Join Kodaka, Yozora, Sena and the rest of the dysfunctional gang for another hilariously awkward story that allows each character their own time to each shine in the spotlight!

HAGANAI: I Don’t Have Many Friends-Club Minutes will be released in November 2014.

Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer (Story & art by Satoshi Mizukami)
Nothing short of a full-burst, energetic and mesmerizing experience, Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer, from author and artist Satoshi Mizukami, is likely the best manga you’ve never read! Combining the stylized action and over-the-top fight scenes of a hot-blooded shonen series like Bleach, with an emotionally gripping and character-driven seinen storyline like Berserk, Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer is one of the most hotly-anticipated manga to arrive on this side of the Pacific.

Whether it is the high-octane action, the GAINAX callouts and references, or the intricate and graphic storytelling, Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer is a manga not to be ignored. Tread carefully, for the Hammer is nigh!

Everything about college student Amamiya Yuuhi is average: grades, looks and his blasé outlook on life. So what happens when he awakens one day to a talking lizard, who informs him that there is a gigantic hammer in outer space, poised to split the Earth into pieces, and requests his allegiance in the fight against the forces of evil? Pretend it never happened! Unfortunately for Yuuhi, a little bit of coercion in the form of a super-powered princess prevents him from returning to his mediocre life-as-usual.

In the adventure of his lifetime, Yuuhi will join forces with the unpredictable princess and seek out a motley crew of companions to fight back against an evil mage and his horrifyingly powerful homunculus before the Biscuit Hammer destroys the planet!

Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer will be released in 2-in-1 omnibus format starting in Fall 2014, with the first omnibus being released in November 2014, and the second omnibus following in February 2015.

D-Frag! (Story & art by Tomoya Haruno)
D-Frag! is a new ongoing manga series that parodies high school clubs, nerd culture, and the slice-of-life genre in a side-splittingly hilarious storyline. For fans of manga series about otaku-centric high school clubs like Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends, Genshiken, or The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, D-Frag! has the last laugh, as it satirizes the genre like never before.

D-Frag! was first serialized in Japan in Monthly Comic Alive, and has been collected so far into seven volumes and counting. The hit manga series has been adapted into a full-cast audio drama CD and is the basis for the D-Frag! anime series to air on Japanese television in early 2014.

Kazama Kenji thinks he’s a delinquent. He’s got the look, the style and the attitude to match-he even has a second-rate entourage of sorts. Deep down, however, Kazama is a good-hearted kid who finds himself and his loyal gang in over their heads when they stumble upon the Game Creation Club. The club’s formidable members, Chitose, Sakura, Minami and Roka, are four girls who he might actually be attracted to if they weren’t so freaking weird.

The girls claim to have otherworldly powers which they use to defeat Kazama’s gang and force him to join their offbeat club. Can Kazama resist the girls’ bizarre charms and return to some semblance of a normal, everyday life…or is it “game over” for our hapless hero?

Volume 1 of D-Frag! will be released July, 2014, with volume 2 following in September, 2014, and volume 3 in December, 2014.

On the Seven Seas: A Centaur’s Life

Hey, everyone! I’m Conner Crooks, Seven Seas Entertainment’s social media liaison. This is a very exciting time, as we’re starting to roll out some big fan-favorite titles. In particular, we’ve been riding a monster girl wave recently! Our launch of Okayado’s Monster Musume Vol. 1 has been well-received by countless manga fans, and we’re now rushing to reprint it only a couple weeks after its initial release. (Not to mention, for two weeks in a row, it’s occupied the coveted #1 spot on the New York Times manga bestseller list!) We also just released Love in Hell Vol. 1, about a dead guy in Hell and the alluring demoness who tortures him. Just looming over the horizon is our third “monster girl” themed manga-Kei Murayama’s A Centaur’s Life, winner of the “Silver Dragon” at the 8th Annual Ryujin Awards. A Centaur’s Life is a beautiful and detailed series that couldn’t be more different from Monster Musume in terms of setting and mood. Allow me to give you a brief overview of this amazing manga.

First thing you’re likely to notice about this release is how BIG it is, as we decided to use what we call “Seven Seas trim size,” a special oversized trim size to highlight this manga’s wonderful artwork. You’ll also be treated to a double-sided color insert featuring the main characters. Packaging aside, this manga packs a real punch with the adorable artwork and meticulous detail by manga-ka Kei Murayama.

A Centaur’s Life, at first glance, is a simple story, featuring the everyday high school lives of a group of friends. So what’s the catch? Well, the world of the story is populated by a wondrous menagerie of fantastical creatures including Centaurs, Angelfolk, Draconids, Catfolk, Goatfolk, and Antarctic Snake People…but we’ll get to them later! In the series, life goes on in a surprisingly realistic manner-and all throughout this first volume, there are plenty of casual mentions of real-world problems that plague our own: war, healthcare reform, immigration, discrimination, and racism. The social commentary is a story within itself, and gives insight into a complex and diverse supernatural culture, but moralizing is not the main thrust of the series.

At its core, A Centaur’s Life is a heartwarming and hilarious slice-of-life tale about a group of supernatural friends and their daily interactions, mishaps, and misadventures. You have Himeno, the elegant and reserved centaur; Nozomi the Draconid, a tomboyish, short-haired, and crude-humored girl with wings; and lastly, Kyoko, a bookish, soft-spoken Goatfolk who acts as the voice of reason within the group. Together, these three girls, each with her own distinct issues and problems, form the core of the narrative. You’ll go to school with them, join in on their private, and sometimes embarrassing, conversations, and gradually will learn about the details of the fascinating world they inhabit. Nuggets of information about each supernatural race and their culture are craftily inserted into each chapter, so that the reader feels a grand sense of world-building by the end of the volume.

Beyond the captivating story, I’d be remiss not to mention the witty dialog and humor that runs throughout A Centaur’s Life. Conversation is pointedly clever and relies on a lot of simple, but delightful comedic situations. You can’t have a series like this without a healthy dose of boke and tsukkomi, and there’s plenty of it in the form of interactions between Nozomi and Kyoko. These two are the butt of many gags and jokes throughout the volume, with Nozomi interjecting and delivering plenty of zingers, to the dismay and disapproval of Kyoko. Playing more of a neutral “Everyman,” Himeno’s innocent and naïve nature is oftentimes a topic of discussion between not just her friends, but classmates as well.

To sum up, this manga is both adorable and clever, and never ceases to amuse or make one smile. This is an absolute must for monster girl fans, for fans of the supernatural, or for those who want their slice-of-life with a freaky twist.

A Centaur’s Life, known as Centaur no Nayami in Japan, is published by Tokuma Shoten’s Comic Ryu-which some fans may realize is also the publishing home of Monster Musume as well. A Centaur’s Life has been serialized monthly since 2011, and has since been collected into six Japanese tankoubon so far with no sign of slowing down. You can look forward to Seven Seas’ English edition of volume 1 coming Tuesday, November 5, 2013, with volume 2 following next year on February 4 and volume 3 on June 3, 2014!

Monster Musume is this Halloween’s Special Treat!

Seven Seas Entertainment is thrilled to announce that the hotly anticipated Monster Musume Vol. 1 by rising manga superstar Okayado is now available at retailers everywhere! Monster Musume is an all-new harem comedy with a fantastical twist-the beautiful ladies in the story are monsters of various shapes and sizes, not to mention textures-making it the perfect series for the Halloween season.

Monster Musume Vol. 1
Story and art by OKAYADO
What do world governments do when they learn that fantastical beings are not merely fiction, but flesh and blood-not to mention feather, hoof, and fang? Why, they create new regulations, of course, like the Interspecies Cultural Exchange Accord!
When twenty-something Kurusu Kimihito becomes an involuntary “volunteer” in the government homestay program for monster girls, his world is turned upside down. A lamia named Miia is sent to live with him, and it’s Kimihito’s job to make sure the sexy snake girl integrates into everyday life. While cold-blooded Miia is hot for Kimihito, the penalties for interspecies breeding are dire. Even worse, when a buxom centaur girl, and a scantily-clad harpy move into Kimihito’s house, what’s a full-blooded young man with raging hormones to do?

Since its release on October 15, Monster Musume has occupied the #1 ranking on Amazon’s “Manga Best-Sellers” list, and to date, has remained in the top spot.

Seven Seas Declares “World War Blue”

Seven Seas Entertainment is pleased to announce the upcoming publication of World War Blue, a fantasy manga series inspired by the “console wars,” the historic struggle for market share between manufacturers in the video game industry. In World War Blue, this epic conflict is represented by satirical versions of popular video game characters, who fight each other in a sprawling RPG-like world.

World War Blue is like Hetalia for gamers,” says Jason DeAngelis, publisher of Seven Seas Entertainment. “Each character is a satiric embodiment of a popular video game character, locked in a desperate battle that represents an important era in video game history.”

World War Blue, known in Japan as “Aoi Sekai no Chushin de,” has been adapted into an ongoing anime which currently airs on Japanese TV and is being simulcast in English on Crunchyroll.

The nine-volume manga series that is the basis for the anime is drawn in the tradition of popular shounen manga like Fairy Tail and Rave Master. Each volume includes a wide array of extra content, such as colorful maps, pin-ups, detailed character bios, and fun bonus features that delve into video game history and lore.

Seven Seas Got Milk!

Seven Seas Entertainment is proud to announce Gakuen Polizi, the newest yuri romance manga from critically-acclaimed and fan-favorite author Morinaga Milk. This highly-anticipated new series combines police drama with a romance story between girls, and incorporates shoujo-inspired artwork that is Morinaga Milk’s signature style.

Gakuen Polizi started its serialization in Japan in 2012 and runs in Futabasha’s Comic High! magazine. Seven Seas previously released Morinaga’s Girl Friends, which went on to become a New York Times Best Seller, along with Kisses, Sighs, and Cherry Blossom Pink, a collection of interrelated yuri stories. Both series have met with rave reviews and received multiple reprints.

Gakuen Polizi volume 1 will be released in June, 2014. Volume 2 will follow in the fall, 2014.

Gakuen Polizi
As a child, Sasami Aoba fantasized about becoming a defender of justice, like the magical girls and “Sentai Rangers” she admired on TV. Years have passed and now Sasami has become a police officer herself. Her first assignment is to infiltrate Hanagaki All-Girls High School and ferret out any trouble she may find.

On her first day posing as a student, Sasami is shocked to discover that a supposed book thief at school is actually a fellow undercover police officer, Sakuraba Midori. What’s more, Midori insists that she herself is the officer in charge of the school, not Sasami. Will the two girls become rivals, partners…or something more?
